 EN SAVOIR PLUS SUR CE SITE INCONTOURNABLE !With the waters of the Verdon running through it, Quinson has been inhabited since the dawn of man and has for the last few years housed the biggest Museum of Prehistory in Europe: a million years of Man's history in a museum with very modern architecture in the heart of a village - the inventory of over 2.000 years of history, from the Celto-Ligurians to the prosperity of the end of XIXth century via Pax Romana and medieval ramparts!
Near the Gorges du Verdon and the lavender of the Valensole plateau, its exceptional geographical configuration with its limestone cliffs making up the Lower Gorges, Quinson will delight those who love awe-inspiring sites, those who are keen on water sports, hikers, and also climbers with its superb climbing sites. THE MUSEUM OF PREHISTORY IN THE GORGES DU VERDON | Archaeological sites in an exceptional landscape, a museum to take a trip back through time to the origins of Mankind, a prehistoric village to discover the way our ancestors lived, all these make up the adventure of the Museum of Prehistory of the Gorges du Verdon.
Surrounded by the most up-to-date technology, the museographic circuit is made up of alternating scenes: everyday life in prehistoric times, with life-size figures, multimedia animation and the results og digs carried out in over 60 archaeological sites during the last 50 years.
- The Museum : Norman Foster, the internationally famous architect, desgined an extremely modern building which fits in with the village. This avant-garde appraoch can also be seen inthe museum's equipment, which uses cutting-edge technologies.
- The prehistoric village rebuilt : on the banks of the Verdon, 500 m from the Museum, scientists rebuilt the prehistoric dwellings whcih make up a village where you can see how flint was hewn, fire without matches, archery, javelin throwing, a neolithic garden, etc.
- The cave of la Baume Bonne : this major European prehistoric site, listed Historical Monument, can be visited along the garrigue trail along which museographic equipment shows the relationship between Man and the environment. Guided tours all year round. Tel. 04.92.74.09.59.

THE LOWER GORGES DU VERDON | From Quinson's nautical base, you have 8 km of wild and picturesque gorges, listed Natura 2000, which unfold to the Lake of Esparron de Verdon. For this trip, you have several types of craft to choose from: kayak, canoe, pedalo or electric boat.
As you float along on the water, you can see the caves, including one supposed to have sheltered the famous bandit Gaspard de Besse, a wide variety of birds, tortoises, nutria... About 6h there and back to reach the lake of Esparron by kayak, canoe and pedalo, and 4h by electric boat. Kayak club. Tel. 04.92.74.07.57.
